Climate Matters will be discontinued.. If..
I am unable to raise enough funds and gain paid subscribers this month to continue writing over the next six months.
Sorry for being too dramatic but well, we know curiosity and drama sells! ðŸ¤
(if you’re convinced already, scroll all the way down to see all the available options to support Climate Matters. If not, read on to hear my justification on why you should support my work)
To those who already contributed, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the support, you folks can skip the rest of the post
Those contributions helped me invest my time and effort into writing for Climate Matters. It is nearly not enough money for the effort I put in but money was never the motivation for this project. The things is, Climate Matters is a passion project I started with an intention to only inform the public on the impending crisis.
Help me continue doing this work, will ya?
Good writing and independent journalism aren’t possible without reader support. Media continues to die today because we still don’t see media as an essential service. People still continue to write and report for ridiculously low returns purely because some of us still do believe in the importance of the fourth estate, to inform the public on important matters and help shape public opinion.
As much as I enjoy doing this for passion, I will be forced to discontinue this endeavour if I’ve to do all this for free.
It takes me several hours each week to read and put together an article for climate matters. It is well and good if media makes a profit but the continued existence of media shouldn’t be contingent on making a profit.
Climate Matters started as an independent publication to do explainer journalism. There are no ads, there’s no PR & marketing, there’s no special subscriber only content, there are no products I’m recommending you to buy and there is no organisational or corporate funding.
Information is and should be free. However, effort does not come for free.
I still have to pay my bills. And I don’t mind sitting in front of the laptop, poring over increasingly depressing reports and ridiculously complex jargon to write articles week after week to help people make sense of this planetary crisis, if I can get a little bit of your support.
I’m just a girl,
sitting in front of a laptop,
asking you to support her work.
(Okay I think I may have given my age there; yeah, I’m ancient apparently)
If you value my effort & the information I provide here on Climate Matters, do become a paid subscriber or make a one time contribution of any amount or find other ways to support below.
1. Make a one-time contribution of any amount
Support my independent journalism and climate outreach work by making a one time contribution to my Climate Crisis Reporting Fund. (works only for Indian cards.) Please note you *can* change the amount before paying.
2. Become a paid subscriberÂ
Opt for monthly, annual or founding member subscriptions. The newsletter will be free-for-all to read but if you buy a paid subscription, I can keep this publication running and continue investing in reporting and writing about climate change. Strangely does not work very well for Indian cards. If this option does not work, please go for the first option.
3. Make a one time donation for PayPal
If India-based Instamojo doesn’t work for you, you can use PayPal below for international cards.
4. Buy Fine Art Photography Prints to support my work
View and purchase fine art prints of stunning photos captured by me over the last few years of traveling in India. All proceeds will go towards running the newsletter.
5. Share my newsletterÂ
Spread the word with friends, family and on social media so we can get more people invested in fighting against climate crisis.
